Clinical and Community Pharmacy Cell (CCPC)
Pharmacy practice is still in the initial stages of development in India, As the profession is in budding stage in the country, the patients, physicians, nurses, other healthcare providers, recruiters in pharmaceutical industries, prospective students, and their parents have numerous questions about this profession and study course. The objective of this cell is to create awareness about clinical and community pharmacy services among students and make them and society realise what difference a pharmacist can make in effective health care management of patients. The cell was started in year 2008 with aim of training students about their social responsibilities as a pharmacist and their role in providing safe treatment.
Under patronage of this cell, students undertake many rallies to spread awareness regarding AIDS , Dengue, Malaria and Tuberculosis. Students also educate the society on alocohol tobacco and drug addiction. They distribute leaflets and pamphlets to impart knowledge and awareness regarding safe use of drugs and common drug interactions. Cell routinely conducts health checkup camps and blood donation camps. Cell participates in Swachha Bharat Abhiyan during Ganapati visarjan at Mumbai beaches. Cell promotes plantation. On festive seasons members of cells visits old age homes, spastic student schools, Orphanages, Tata cancer hospital to distribute basic health care accessories. In institutes many guest lectures are arranged by cell for imparting education on healthy diet , regulations by FDA ,Scope and role of clinical pharmacists etc.
CCPC cell offers knowledge beyond academic syllabus to students, helps them to groom as a pharmacist , teaches them to work in group and organise events. It offers opportunity to students to interact with society , understand their health problems ,shortfalls in health management systems and understand their role as a pharmacist to overcome them for benefit of patient. Finally it gives them satisfaction to provide a small contribution to society for better health.
