DEPARTMENT of PHARMACOLOGY

The Pharmacology department aims to provide quality preclinical and clinical education in pharmacology for students, to educate and train graduate, post graduate and doctoral pharmacology students, to carry out research of recognized excellence. In addition, enhancement of and improvement of research activities are target aim of the staff members in the department The department undertakes lectures and practicals in subjects of Anatomy physiology pathophysiology , Pharmacology and clinical pharmacy with the help of modern teaching techniques.

Pharmacology is the science concerned with all aspects of the action of drugs and other chemicals on living systems, including mechanisms of action , pharmacological effects, right use of drugs, drug-drug interaction and side effects of drugs. Department also teaches allied branches like clinical pharmacy imparting education on roles of pharmacists in community , clinical and hospital sectors and basic principles of pharmacovigilance, therapeutic drug monitoring pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics. Basic principles of toxicology and cellular and molecular biology are other additional subjects taught in department.

Department has well equipped under graduate and post graduate Pharmacology laboratories and CPCSEA registered animal house. Department has received many government and industrial research grants and number of collaborative research projects with esteemed national and international institutes are conducted. Department is engaged in many industrial research projects. Departmental research work is recipient of many awards at national and international conferences and have filed patents also. Department conducts health-checkup camps for college staff annually and is engaged in many community health activities.
