National Service Scheme The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. Our NSS Unit worked under the University of Mumbai NSS Cell. It provides an opportunity for the B. Pharmacy volunteers of Technical Institutions, at colleges and University levels of India to take part in various government-led community service activities & programs. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands-on experience to young students in delivering community service. National Service Scheme, popularly known as NSS has been established in 2020 in this institute to build social & moral values in the budding pharmacists. Various activities that benefit the society such as Blood Donation Camp, beach cleaning, Swachh Bharat Mission, Seminars for social awareness, road safety videos, and many national day celebrations such as republic day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayant, Yoga Day, women’s day, etc. have been regularly carried out. Presently, The College has an active NSS Unit of 50 volunteers Since 2020, our NSS unit Programme officer Dr. Shrikant M. Ghodse. The college has received the “Best NSS Unit Award” for its contribution to organizing maximum blood camp during covid-19 pandemic period.

MISSION

  • To sensitize NSS volunteers about serving the nation through social services & Community Development.
  • To Provide first-hand Experience to Youth & give them a sense of social responsibility.
  • To Help in the Personality development of students by participation in various events, camps & activities
  • Motivate NSS Volunteers for continuing their selfless service towards community work.

VISION

  • Our sole aim is to develop Feelings of Social Help, National Unity, Harmony of Community & Patriotism among students via social services.
  • Encourage them to contribute their share for the welfare of mankind.
  • Provide a chance to develop the overall personality of the student volunteers.

OBJECTIVES OF NSS

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are:

  • Understand the community in which they work
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  • Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • Gain skills in mobilising community participation
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters
  • Practise national integration and social harmony

MOTTO OF NSS

The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students develop an appreciation of other people’s points of view and also show consideration to other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrine in this motto, which underlines/on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole, and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT PANDEMIC YEAR

NSS Unit Kmkcp have arranged several events & activities, some of them are:

1) Blood donation Camp

 2) Women’s’ day celebration meet along with speeches on 10 Indian women & their achievements

3) International Yoga Day

4) Environment day awareness Quiz

5) Participation in various intercollegiate webinar’s such as on world water day, Changing dynamics of education
