A college that emphasizes lifelong learning recognizes that education is not confined to a few years of formal schooling, but is a continuous process throughout one’s life. As such, it offers a variety of activities that support learning and personal growth beyond the classroom. Our institute is a unit of the Department of Lifelong Learning & Extension, University of Mumbai. The activities carried out include workshops, seminars, awareness camps, and field visits on topics ranging from career development to health and wellness, and creative expression. The college also provides access to online resources and networks, mentoring programs, and opportunities for community service and engagement. This facilitates the sensitization of the students to the sociocultural realities and helps to develop entrepreneurship and leadership skills among them. By fostering a culture of lifelong learning, the college encourages its students to continue to grow and learn, even after they have completed their formal education, and helps them to prepare for a fulfilling and meaningful life beyond graduation.

DLLE- Department of lifelong learning and extension.

The department of lifelong learning and extension was established on October 12 1970 and is recognised by the University of Mumbai.

The DLLE supports the community based extension work in collaboration with specific mandate to work for the less privileged sections of the society and the efforts are to extend educational programs that will announce and improve the quality of life of such groups with the central objective of “reach to unreached”

Prin. K.M kundnani College of Pharmacy join the DLLE unit in year 2016-17. The incharge teacher that is the extension teacher is Dr. Rita Lala

EVENTS:

23^rd and 24^th September 2017 – Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

DLLE members gathered together to carry out a cleanliness drive in the college under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by the Government and keep the environment clean and safe.

2. 24^th & 26^th October 2017 – Celebration of Diwali

Students Celebrated Diwali with Mumbai police as a gesture to thank them for creating a safe society to live in. The DLLE members celebrated diwali by taking some sweets for the police officers and thanked them for their support.

3. 29^th December – Save Paper Event

DLLE members took all the old books/Journals and removed the unused papers and re used them. In this way there was no wastage of paper and pollution of environment.

4. Esperanza – 24^th Feb 2018 Intercollegiate event in collaboration with RC KMK and CCPC of KMK

Various competitions were held in the event like fine arts, literary, stage, etc. Students from various college participated with full enthusiasm and made it a first ever successful Intercollegiate event organised by KMK.

5. 25^th Sept 2018 – World Pharmacist day.

On occasion of World Pharmacist Day members created awareness about the OTC medicines and side effects of medicines when taken irresponsibly at CSMT And Churchgate stations.

6. Visit to Adivasi Ashramshala – 12^th December 2018

DLLE members of KMK visited Adivasi Ashramshala at Neral where they explained the students about the career opportunities, cleanliness and female hygiene. The students interacted with the children and got to know their daily routine and their everyday activities.

7. 13th January 2019 – Old age home visit

DLLE unit of KMK organised a visit to Swami Sarvanand Old age home. Where Rotaracters spent time with the elderly and explained them the side effects of medicine when taken irresponsibly.

8. Beach Cleaning drive – 14^th September 2019

DLLE members volunteered a beach cleaning drive at girgaun Chowpatty. They collected all the plastic waste and other waste and segregated them in dustbin. The students also helped the BMC by removing the ganpatis near the the sea shore towards the crane to get recycled.

9. Essay writing and poster competition – 25^th September 2019

Essay writing competition and poster making competition was held on occasion of World Pharmacist day. The topic for Essay writing was Newer avenues in Pharmacy profession and topic for Poster making was Generic Medicine the students participated with enthusiasm and winners were presented with certificates.

10. Gender Senstization seminar – 21^st September 2019

DLLE members of KMK attended a seminar at Lala Lajpatrai college about gender sensitization and gender spectrum. Various guests addressed about the broadness in the genders and improve the mindset.

11. Bhajan Sandhya – 2^nd October 2019

DLLE members of KMK attended a bhajan sandhya at Gate of India organised by DLLE. The principles of Gandhiji were potrayed through his Bhajans. All the students sang along the bhajans of Gandhi ji.

12. Blood Donation Drive – 6^th December 2019

DLLE members participated in a blood donation drive organised by Prin. K. M Prin. K M Kundnani College of Pharmacy in collab with HDFC bank and Pallavi Blood bank. The students donated blood to help the society for a good cause.

13. Awareness Drive – 21^st January 2020

DLLE students of our college went to churchgate, CST and Marine drive for an awareness drive on “Know your medicine”

Which included:

1. Adverse effects of antibiotics
2. Resistance developed by antibiotics
3. Dosage Regimen and its importance
4. OTC medicines
